Sweden always the underdog made their World Cup debut in 1934, but it was not until the 1958 finals in Sweden that they have had their best World Cup performance finishing second only to Brazil in the year that Pele made his debut.
In a thrilling final Sweden really took the game to the South American champions and lead early in the game but Brazil had too much quality and the dream was over as they beat Sweden 4-2 in the final.
Sweden have appeared in 11 of the World Cup finals and they generally perform with great credit mainly due to excellent team play and excellent tactical awareness.
