Hungary World Cup Finalists 1974, 1978

Hungary have made it through to 9 World Cup finals being runners up in two finals in 1938 in France and the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland.

In the 1938 final they played a cracking game against the Italians where Gino Colaussi put Italy ahead in the sixth minute, only for Pal Titkos to equalise for Hungary two minutes later, Italy took control as the first half continued and took a 3-1 lead into the interval however there was no looking back and even after there was a 70th-minute strike from Gyorgy Sarosi to bring Hungary back into the game, Italy sealed the victory with eight minutes from time.

In 1954 Hungary had their best ever team and were the clear favourites to win it that year but lost a two goal lead in the final to the lose 3-2 against West Germany.
