Group 2 was another close group with no one team dominating proceedings and in the end it was Switzerland Managed by Ottmar Hitzfeld who rose to the top and took the automatic berth to South Africa. Euro 2004 Greece ran the Swiss close just a point behind to qualify for the play-offs and they finished just ahead of Latvia and Israel who also produced good campaigns despite just falling short.
