Fifa World Cup 1994 Final - Brazil v Italy
The 1994 World Cup saw Brazil become the first team to win the tournament four times as they beat Italy on penalties. Despite initial concerns about taking the event to the United States, huge crowds ensured the tournament was a great success.
In a tournament where the Brazilians were not at their best it was hardly surprising that the final turned out to be a let-down The Final was played in front of 94,000 fans at the Pasadena Rose Bowl but it was a dour, bad-tempered game, with both teams apparently too scared of losing to risk doing anything very exciting. Ninety minutes plus extra time passed without a goal, so the 1994 World Cup became the first one ever to be settled on a penalty shoot-out.
After Franco Baresi and Daniele Massaro had missed for Italy, and Marcio Santos had failed for Brazil, Dunga stroked the ball home to put the pressure on Baggio.
Considering the great contribution that Roberto Baggio made towards getting Italy to the final, it was a shame that his miss should lose his team the Cup - but that was how things worked out. Baggio's shot over the bar settled the shoot-out.
