Fifa World Cup Final 1934 - Italy v Czechoslovakia

Italy had to qualify for their own tournament which if they failed would have been a disaster however it was fated that they turn up on their home soil as they made their way to the final where they took on the Czechs.

The final took place in Rome and there was a surprise in store for the home crowed when they went one down through winger Antonin Puc with only 15 minutes to go. Italy struck back quickly through Raimondo Orsi to take the game into extra time.

Meazza having taken a bad knock in extra time made the decisive assist to Angelo Schiavio to scored the winner and Italy won their first World Cup.
